White Rock 5

Poised above the shoreline in White Rock, this residence showcases an ambitious use of glass to connect structure and setting with precision and control. Summit Glazing was tasked with delivering a transparent envelope that supports both performance and poetry. The result is a layered glazing strategy that integrates every unit with purpose and restraint.

At the core of the package are multiple Schüco ASE sliding systems, including both ASE 67 PD and ASE 80.HI L&S configurations. These doors offer expansive openings that face the open water, combining minimal sightlines with effortless operability. The flush threshold detailing and integrated drainage align with both the design intent and climate resilience required in coastal environments.

The vertical plane is defined by a sequence of FWS 50.SI curtain wall systems, some of which appear as clerestory features that funnel daylight deep into the interior. These elements were carefully coordinated to preserve sightlines while balancing structural spans and solar exposure. At the top of the volume, a vast FWS 50 skylight system completes the vertical axis, flooding the home with overhead light and offering framed views of the sky throughout the day.

Summit’s involvement extended from pre-construction collaboration to field adjustments during installation. This project is a study in light and proportion, made possible by high-performance systems and executed with precision. It stands as a clear example of Summit’s ability to bring clarity and craft to technically demanding builds along the Pacific Coast.
