Set within a tightly built residential context, the Churchill Street project exemplifies the careful balance between performance requirements and architectural intent. With strict USI (overall heat transfer coefficient) targets established from the outset, this custom glazing package demanded not only thermal excellence but also visual restraint, all delivered with the precision and efficiency that Summit Glazing brings to every build.

The facade is anchored by Schüco AWS 90 BS.SI windows, known for their outstanding thermal properties and clean visual lines. Floor-to-ceiling windows maximize light transmission and enhance the interior connection to the landscape, while delivering the insulation performance required by Vancouver’s increasingly demanding energy standards. Several of these units were paired with motorized hopper systems, allowing discreet operability without compromising airtightness or the simplicity of the frame.

A pair of ASE 80 Design Line lift-and-slide doors was integrated into the rear elevation, opening the kitchen and living zones to the garden with minimal visible hardware and maximum ease of movement. These systems and AD UP 75 swing doors were coordinated to maintain consistency in finish and sightline alignment, creating a cohesive look that reinforces the overall architecture.
Tight timelines, high-performance metrics, and a compact construction site demanded detailed pre-planning and active coordination with trades. Summit’s role was more than just supply and installation, but delivering solutions at every execution stage. This project demonstrates how performance glazing, when properly specified and installed, can enhance both energy efficiency and the overall architectural experience.
